My name is Mrs. Katy Houghton. I am originally from an itty-bitty town in Missouri (population: 700), so I find it funny when people call Crestview a small town. Before becoming a teacher, I was a journalist. Working for a newspaper was an awesome experience. I met amazing, inspirational people and did things I never dreamed of doing, like FLYING AN AIRPLANE! My husband is a paramedic and active-duty Air Force. We have two orange tabby cats and a Shih-Tzu.
Education
I graduated from East Buchanan High School (Go Bulldogs!), after which I attended Missouri Western State University for biochemistry. But after getting married and moving to Florida, I found my passion in life -- teaching! I graduated from Northwest Florida State University with a bachelor's in middle grades science education and am currently attending graduate school at the University of West Florida for curriculum and instruction.
